Week 2
Game Recap
The Arlington Spy Ponders kicked off their season with a dominating 38-0 shutout against Arlington Catholic! With explosive play on both offense and defense, the Ponders quickly took a 20-0 lead in the first quarter. Keeping the momentum strong through the second and third quarters, the Ponders scored an additional 18 points, leaving AC's defense struggling to keep up. The Ponders had a solid offense, combining for 278 rushing and passing yards, which resulted in 2 touchdowns. Not only did the offense have an amazing game, but the defense had an electric game too, with three forced turnovers and 2 touchdowns.
It was an honor to celebrate Coach Hanley and have his family at the game on Friday night. The team will play with him in mind for the rest of the season. Peter Harrison (WR/DB) had an outstanding game, earning him the Coach Hanley Game MVP. Harrison was a game-changer, forcing a fumble that he returned for a touchdown and later having an interception that he took to the endzone, playing a key role in Arlington's domination. Ori Forest and Ryan Scull both had exceptional games making key plays on both sides of the ball as RB/LB. They dominated the run game while also making crucial stops on defense, overall contributing to Arlington’s all-around strong performance. Davi Figueiredo stepped up this game filling in at guard due to injuries. He seamlessly fit in helping the team pull off such an impressive win. The team worked together to achieve a strong start to this season, demonstrating their unity and determination. This solid first game suggests an exciting season ahead, with much more to look forward to.

Looking ahead to the next game
The team did not celebrate for too long before refocusing on this Friday’s game against Brookline High School. The morning after the AC victory, they immediately began preparing by watching film and hitting the weight room. This quick turnaround from celebration to preparation shows their readiness to tackle the next challenge and keep the momentum going.
Arlington faces Brookline High School this week, an out-of-league opponent with a current record of 1-0. Brookline is coming off a narrow 20-14 victory against Lexington. Last season, Arlington had an outstanding performance against them, winning 52-14. The Spy Ponders will be looking to repeat last year's domination this Friday.
Be sure to catch the Arlington Spy Ponders in their second game of the season. Join us on the Pierce Field for another exciting game on Friday, September 13th at 6:00 pm and cheer on the team as they look to build on their impressive start to the season.

Player Q&A
As the season unfolds, it's important to get to know the players who make an impact on the field. This week, I interviewed Peter Harrison following his monster game against AC. Peter started playing flag football in kindergarten before moving to tackle in high school. His most memorable moment came last week against AC when he recovered a fumble for a touchdown. Peter’s strengths lie in his speed and catching ability. This season he is working to improve his blocking and tackling skills. To prepare for the season, he dedicated time to practicing routes, catching and working out almost every day. Off the field, Peter’s favorite team tradition is team dinners. Additionally, he runs track during the offseason. It will be exciting to see how Peter’s skills and dedication to the team will play a role in the rest of the season.
Stay tuned for more insight from the players as the season progresses!
